Kotone Utsunomiya
 Artist / Illustrator / Picture Book Author

Kotone Utsunomiya studied Textile Design in the Product and Textile Department at Tama Art University, graduating in 2014. Shortly after completing her studies, her artwork was featured in clothing  for

me ISSEY MIYAKE.

From 2018 to 2021, she continued her artistic development at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague (UMPRUM), studying in the Illustration and Graphics Department under leading figures such as Juraj Horváth, who has played a central role in shaping the renowned picture book publishing house Baobab.

Following her time in Prague, she spent a year in Stockholm, where her work “Liv” was showcased during the holiday season celebrating the 100th anniversary of Svenskt Tenn, one of Sweden’s most iconic interior brands. “Liv” was later sold at Stockholms Auktionsverk, the world’s oldest auction house.

In 2025, Utsunomiya received the Serpa Award, a distinguished international picture book competition held in Portugal, winning first place among more than 800 applicants from 60 countries.

She is currently based in Tokyo and works internationally as an artist, illustrator, and picture book author.

2014年、多摩美術大学生産デザイン学科でテキスタイルデザインを専攻する。

卒業後すぐにme ISSEY MIYAKEの服や小物に作品が使用される。2018年から2021年まで、プラハ工芸美術大学に留学。

イラストレーション&グラフィック学科で、絵本出版社バオバブを牽引するユライ・ホルヴァートの指南を受ける。

その後ストックホルムに1年間移住し、スウェーデンの老舗インテリアブランドSvenskt Tennの100周年記念のホリデーシーズンの期間、店内に作品"Liv"を展示する。"Liv" は、世界最古のオークションハウスStockholms Auktionsverkにて落札。

2025年には、ポルトガルの絵本のコンペティションSerpa Awardで、全世界60カ国、800名以上の応募者の中からチャンピオンに選ばれる。

現在は東京を拠点に、国内外でアーティスト、イラストレーター、絵本作家として活動中。
